Bruce Springsteen has been nominated for an Emmy – for Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded) for his Netflix special Springsteen on Broadway – and if he wins, he would join the rarefied air of entertainers who have captured an Emmy, an Oscar, a Tony and a Grammy.

The Born to Run singer, in his run for the Emmy, faces competition from three other Netflix projects – Homecoming: A Film By Beyoncé, Wanda Sykes: Not Normal, and Hannah Gadsby: Nanette – as well as CBS’s Carpool Karaoke: When Corden Met McCartney Live From Liverpool.

The 69-year-old singer of classics such as Born in the U.S.A., Cover Me and Born To Run has amassed 20 Grammy wins over 50 nominations in his career.

He captured his first one for Best Vocal Performance, Male for the 1984 anthem Dancing In The Dark.

The blue-collar icon took home the Best Original Song Oscar in 1994 for his somber song Streets Of Philadelphia from the 1993 movie Philadelphia starring Tom Hanks and Denzel Washington.

The Long Branch, New Jersey native was given an honorary Tony Award last year for his show Springsteen on Broadway (which was ineligible to compete due to a rule mandating Tony voters get free tickets), from which the Emmy-nominated special was derived from.

If victorious, Springsteen would join luminaries such as John Legend, Whoopi Goldberg and Andrew Lloyd Webber among the group of 15 people to have achieved the honor.

Other notable names who have honorary awards rounding out their EGOT honors include Barbra Streisand, Quincy Jones, Harry Belafonte, James Earl Jones, Liza Minnelli and Alan Menken.

The 2019 Primetime Emmy Awards, stemming from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, are slated to air at Sunday, September 22 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on Fox.
